Number Plate Legal Requirements

All our road-legal plates conform to these DVLA standards. You must call to verify your documentation before ordering.

  • Made from reflective material
  • Black characters on white (front) or yellow (rear) background
  • Correct Charles Wright font (no italic, bold or decorative fonts)
  • Proper character size (79mm tall, 50mm wide except 1 and I)
  • Correct spacing between characters and groups
  • Must show British Standard number (BS AU 145e)
  • Must include supplier name and postcode

  • V5C/2 New Keeper Supplement (green slip)
  • Certificate of Entitlement (V750 or V778)
  • Retention Document (V778)
  • Vehicle License Renewal (V11)
  • Temporary Registration Certificate (V379)
  • Number Plate Authorisation Certificate (V948)
